Alessi

Born in Munich in 1932, Sapper studied Philosophy, Anatomy, Graphics, Engineering and Economics, proving him to be one of the most well-rounded designers to date. With such an understanding of the complex physical elements, the aesthetic and monetary aspects of design, Sapper is a truly unique breed of master designer. A ten time winner of the Compassi d'Oro, it is easily understood that his prime interest lies in the design of technically complex objects from ships to watches. The 9090, as designed by Richard Sapper was not only the first espresso coffee maker in our history, but it was also the first Alessi object designed for the kitchen after the 30's. It also gained us our first Compaso d'Oro Award in 1979 and it is on display in the Permanent Design Collection at the MOMA in New York. The 9090 was the first of our amphibious objects, those that can be used in the kitchen but are attractive enough to be used directly at the table. It proved that there was ample space on the market for "good looking coffee machines," and it spurred on almost all household goods manufacturers to try to imitate our lead. Even after twenty years it remains one of our most popular coffee machines. Stefano Giovannoni and Guido Venturini are the design team known as King Kong. The designs that were first made were of a very straightforward tray which had its edges perforated with a little man motif, like the ones children cut out with scissors. The Girotondo project went ahead without any particular hitches or special enthusiasm: nobody could have imagined this would become Alessi's best-selling tray! This playful cartoon language made its mark on design in the early 90s. A great kitchen accessory, the Girotondo Press Filter Coffee Maker is great to have on hand. This press filter coffee maker or infuser is made of 18/10 stainless steel and has a heat resistant glass. The classic Girotondo design on the outside adds a striking and sophisticated look that will be adored by all. Architect, designer, and explorer of the world of industrial design, Guido Venturini has become a recognizable figure in the world of design. His clever and accurate use of space management and internal architecture led him to the design of the famous Maddalena Loveburger project in Prato in cooperation with Stefano Giovannoni. His fresh, youthful ideas have played a large role in newer Alessi design concepts in the Family Follows Fiction series. Designed in 2000, the Inka Press Filter Coffee Maker can also be used as an infuser. Guido Venturini was inspired by a method of making coffee which is now very common in northern Europe and America, and which was invented in Italy in the twenties - the manual pressure filter. Made of 18/10 stainless steel and polyamide with an inner heat resistant glass, "Inka" was designed for preparing coffee with a particular taste. The taste differs not only from espresso and percolator coffee, but also coffee made using the Melitta paper filter system and the Neapolitan coffee maker. Its main characteristic is that it allows you to obtain your desired dosage of coffee by adjusting the ratio of the amount of ground coffee to the amount of water, and therefore to make stronger or weaker coffee according to your taste. Designed by: Guido Venturini, 2000 Features: -Made of 18/10 stainless steel and polyamide. -Heat resistant glass. -Available in Dark Coffee or Green. -Overall Dimensions: 9.8" H x 4.7" W x 6.3" D. -Please Note: You are advised to wash the filter thoroughly in order to remove any residual coffee taste, or to use another press-filter when using "Inka" as an infuser.
